For healthcare & business associates

HIPAA Compliance

If you handle protected health information, HIPAA makes securing it your responsibility. We handle the IT side, the required risk analysis, encryption, access controls, and the records an audit asks for, so patient data stays private and your practice stays open.

Also known as: HIPAA Security Rule, ePHI, PHI, business associate, BAA, risk analysis, breach notification, covered entity, medical practice IT, dental IT.

The administrative, physical, and technical safeguards the HIPAA Security Rule asks for, implemented and documented so you can show your work when it matters.

The safeguards the Security Rule asks for

  • Conduct a risk analysis
  • Assign a security official
  • Role-based access control
  • Encrypt ePHI at rest & in transit
  • Audit logs & monitoring
  • Physical & device controls
  • Backup & contingency plan
  • Breach response plan
  • Policies & documentation
  • Ongoing review & training

Meet the Security Rule, prove it on paper

HIPAA is more than technology, but technology is where most of the risk lives. We secure and document the IT side and tell you plainly where that line is.

Required risk analysis

We start where HIPAA does: assessing where ePHI lives and how it’s exposed, and giving you a plain-English picture of your risk.

Protect ePHI everywhere

We encrypt and control access to electronic protected health information on every workstation, laptop, and device, so a lost laptop is an inconvenience, not a breach.

Access controls & audit logs

Role-based access so staff see only what they should, unique logins for everyone, and the audit trails the rule expects.

Backup & contingency

Automated, monitored, isolated backups of your practice management, EHR, and imaging data, so ransomware or a failure never costs you a day of patients.

Breach prevention & response

We harden email, devices, and the network to keep PHI out of the wrong hands, and build the plan you follow if an incident ever happens.

Documentation & audit-readiness

Policies, safeguards, and records assembled so you can show, on paper, that you’re protecting patient data.

“Adam helped clean up a lot of computer problems, and since then he has helped resolve online security issues and suggested ways to keep things more secure. It is very easy to get help — I email the problem, they get back to me, and then it’s fixed. Easy from start to finish.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions

Does working with you make us HIPAA compliant?

Technology is a big part of HIPAA, but not all of it. We secure and document the IT side and give you the technical safeguards and evidence; you still own your policies, training, and Business Associate Agreements. We tell you plainly where that line is.

We’re not a doctor’s office, does HIPAA still apply to us?

It might. If you create, receive, or store protected health information for a covered entity, billing companies, IT providers, and many vendors, you’re a “business associate” and HIPAA applies to you too.

Where do we even start?

With the risk analysis the Security Rule requires. It shows where your patient data is exposed and turns a daunting rule into a prioritized, plain-English list of what to fix first.

Is this a one-time project?

No. HIPAA expects ongoing review as your practice and your systems change, so we put safeguards in place, then monitor, patch, and keep the documentation current.
