Fixing KW Personal Printers

If your personal office printer isn’t printing or is printing slowly, please read below:

Due to the recent network upgrades, your Wi-Fi or wired network-connected printer may not be printing, or may be printing slowly.

Your printer may have obtained a new IP address, and your computer configuration needs to be updated to point to this new IP address.

How to reconnect your printer

The easiest way to fix your printing is to remove your printer from your computer, uninstall its driver software, and reinstall the driver software.

Microsoft Windows Instructions:
  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Click View devices and printers.
  3. Right click on your printer, and click Remove device.
  4. Go back to the Control Panel.
  5. Click Uninstall a program
  6. Find and select your printer software, and click Uninstall. You may have to repeat this step if your printer installs multiple pieces of software to remove all of them.
  7. Visit your printer manufacturer’s driver website (listed below), download the latest drivers for your printer and operating system, install them, then follow the setup wizard to re-add your printer to your computer. Make sure that you download printer drivers from the manufacturer’s website to avoid viruses.
macOS / Mac OS X Instructions:
  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. Click Printers & Scanners.
  3. Click on your printer and click the (minus) icon.
  4. Macs come built in with software for many printers. You may be able to click the (plus) icon to re-add your printer.
  5. If you need to re-install your printer driver to set up your printer, visit your printer manufacturer’s driver website (listed below), download the latest drivers for your printer and operating system, install them, then follow the setup wizard to re-add your printer to your computer. Make sure that you download printer drivers from the manufacturer’s website to avoid viruses.
