Minimum Standards
These are the baseline conditions your hardware and software must meet for us to support them and deliver the response times and service levels in your Managed Services Agreement. They are vendor-neutral — they describe the state your technology has to be in, not which brand you buy. Whatever you run, it needs to be current, supported, and covered.
We review and update these standards from time to time as technologies age and new ones are released and tested by us. If anything in your environment doesn’t meet a standard before your agreement start date, we’ll work with you on a plan to bring it up to standard, and we’ll do our best to support it in the meantime — though support for out-of-standard items is at our discretion and may be billable.
Hardware
- Under active warranty or support. Every computer, server, and network device is covered by a current manufacturer warranty or support contract.
- Within its service life. Equipment is operated within the manufacturer’s supported lifespan and is not running past end-of-support.
- Adequate for the workload. Devices meet the manufacturer’s recommended specifications for the operating system and applications they run.
Operating systems & software
- Vendor-supported and receiving security updates. All operating systems and business applications are versions the vendor still supports and actively patches. No end-of-life operating systems (for example, an OS the manufacturer no longer issues security updates for).
- Windows computers run Windows 11 Pro. Home and S editions are not supported — the business management, encryption, and security features we rely on require Pro.
- Mac computers run a supported version of macOS — the current major release or one of the two previous releases.
- Currently patched. Security and critical updates are applied on a current basis, not deferred indefinitely.
- Properly licensed. All software is genuine and licensed for business use.
Security & continuity
- Endpoint protection active. A supported, centrally managed endpoint security solution is installed and running on every device.
- Multi-factor authentication. MFA is enabled on email, remote access, and other critical accounts.
- Backups in place. Business data is protected by a current, monitored backup.
- Supported network equipment. Firewalls, switches, and wireless are business-grade, vendor-supported, and receiving firmware/security updates.
